NDRRMC reports 17 dead amid onslaught of ‘Typhoon Jolina’

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday (Sept. 12) said a total of 17 people died during the onslaught of Typhoon Jolina last week.

Seven people are also missing while 24 others were injured, the NDRRMC report said.

NDRRMC also said 313,373 people, 81,048 families, and 1,346 barangays were affected by the typhoon.

A total of 181 areas in Region 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Region 5, Region 6, Region 7, and Region 8 experienced flashfloods or flooding, while 13,061 persons from Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Region 8 were pre-emptively evacuated.

Meanwhile, 36 cities and municipalities experienced power outages or interruptions in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Region 5, Region 6, Region 8. Power has been restored in 35 cities/ municipalities.

Seven cities and municipalities experienced water supply outages or interruptions in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, but water supply has been restored in two cities and municipalities.

There were 93 infrastructures damaged with an estimated cost of ₱57,261,053.

The cost of assistance provided has also gone up to ₱1,329,189. – PG – bny
