NDRRMC: Shear line, LPA affect over 1.1M in 7 regions

Families affected by the combined effects of the shear line and low pressure area (LPA) have so far reached 282,938 in seven regions in the country, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its Monday update.

These 282,938 families are equivalent to 1,133,093 individuals residing in 1,471 barangays in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and the Caraga.

Of these numbers, 17,746 families or 48,720 individuals are being aided in 162 evacuation centers while another 9,357 families or 32,699 persons are being helped outside.

The Office of Civil Defense earlier said the affected families include those displaced and those not needing transfer or removal from their residence.

The NDRRMC also said that there are two reported fatalities still being verified as of this time and these are recorded in Eastern Visayas.

One was confirmed injured and this was reported in Region 8 while a person was reported missing and undergoing validation in Bicol.

Damaged houses were placed at 270 and recorded in Bicol, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas while damage to agriculture was estimated at P119,897,021.93 and these were recorded also in Western and Eastern Visayas.
