New BSP deputy governor sworn in

MANILA — Francisco G. Dakila Jr. received his oath of office as Deputy Governor for Monetary and Economics Sector (MES) in ceremonies administered by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin E. Diokno on Thursday.

He succeeds former Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo, who recently retired.

As head of the MES, Dakila will provide overall supervision, management, and direction to monetary and financial policy, international monetary affairs, loans and credit, economic and financial literacy, among others.

Prior to his appointment, Dakila served as Assistant Governor for the Monetary Policy Sub-Sector where he provided highly-technical advisory support on matters relating to the formulation, implementation and assessment of policies and programs in the areas of monetary, external, real and financial sectors.

He worked at the US Agency for International Development and the Agricultural Credit Policy Council before joining the BSP. He also taught at the University of the Philippines and at the De La Salle University.

Dakila received his PhD and MA in Economics and BS in Economics (magna cum laude) from the University of the Philippines-School of Economics.

Dakila’s wife, Maura, was also present at the oath-taking ceremony.
