New Clark City master plan finalized, Phase I starts

CLARK, Pampanga –The state-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is now implementing and developing Phase I of the New Clark City, one of the big ticket projects under the “Build, Build, Build” Infrastructure Program and poised to become the country’s first smart, green and disaster-resilient city.

BCDA president and CEO Vicencio Dizon, on the sidelines of the 11th Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and 4th ADMM-Plus held here, said they have already finished the master plan for the 9,450-hectare development of the New Clark City that will be presented soon to the business community to attract investments.

“We just finalized few weeks ago the master plan which was started during the Aquino administration under the leadership of former BCDA president Arnel Casanova and we have to really praise them for a fantastic design project and it is the job now of the Duterte administration and the BCDA leadership not only to continue but to fast track this new city and we are planning to do that now,” Dizon said.

He said the development of phase I of the Clark Green City started with the construction of the road and transportation infrastructure.

He said the bidding for the two vital roads leading to New Clark City will open next year.

“It might be earlier if we are allowed to tender earlier this year but awarding of the two road projects will be in January,” Dizon said.

The two road projects are the 15- to18-kilometer road that will connect New Clark City to Clark International Airport and the seven to eight kilometers road from New Clark City to Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

“That are the priorities. We will build those two projects. The target completion is on the third quarter of 2019,” he said.

Dizon also disclosed that the New Clark City will be the venue of some events for the Philippine’s hosting of the Southeast Asian Games.

“I cannot announce yet what facilities to be built as this will be announced by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee. But, we will start the construction of the facilities which will be completed by 2019,” he added. (PNA)
