New scholarship grant up for Ilocos Norte senior high studes

LAOAG CITY — The Ilocos Norte government is offering a new scholarship grant dedicated to the Senior High Program (SHP).

The new SHP scholarship grant, which is open to Grade 11 and Grade 12 students with an average grade of 85 percent or higher, is meant to help Ilocos Norte residents in their daily expenses including transportation, lodging and other miscellaneous expenses.

According to Matilde Neri, head of the Provincial Education Department (PED), there are 1,000 slots available for the scholarship offer this year.

“The scholarship program is exclusive to all bonafide Ilocos Norte residents willing to take technical, vocational and livelihood or TVL including Accounting, Business and Management, Science and Technology Engineering and Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences,” said Neri.

In an interview Friday, Neri said interested applicants may now submit their credentials to the PED for screening.

By providing more opportunities for young students, the Ilocos Norte government under the leadership of Governor Imee Marcos hopes to sustain academic excellence in the province and at the same time, reduce poverty through education.

The scholarship grant is a priority program of the Ilocos Norte government with a budget allocation of more than PHP900 million annually.

It aims to provide equal opportunities for all Ilocos Norte residents, who seek better jobs here and abroad. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
