NFWM intercepts P10.8M worth of smuggled cigarettes in Zamboanga del Sur

Zamboanga Del Sur – Naval Forces Western Mindanao personnel onboard BRP Jose Loor Sr (PC390) intercepted one fishing boat loaded with smuggled cigarettes with a market value of 10.8M on October 09, 2020 at vicinity Seawaters off Tabina, Zamboanga Del Sur.

NFWM personnel with PC390, conducted intensified maritime patrol in the vicinity seawaters off Zamboanga Del Sur leading to the successful interception of FB Normay. The said fishing boat was loaded with Three Hundred Seven (307) cases and 94 reams assorted smuggled cigarettes with a market value worth Ten Million Eight Hundred Ten Thousand and Eight Hundred Pesos (Php 10,810,800,00). The intercepted vessel came from Kalingalang Caluang, Sulu and was enroute to Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The fishing boat was then escorted to Pagadian City Pier along with its seven (7) crew members and on the following day upon arrival to Pagadian City Pier, the smuggled cigarettes onboard FB Normay were unloaded and were properly turned-over to the Bureau of Customs Region 9 (BOC R9) for proper disposition.

This accomplishment is part of Naval Forces Western Mindanao and Western Mindanao Command`s strong resolve and commitment to assist other government agencies and LGUs on their campaign of eradicating smuggling and other illegal activities in the region
