NGCP gives school supplies to 3k Bicol pupils

DARAGA, Albay — About 3,000 elementary pupils from 27 public elementary schools in two provinces of Bicol region area have received school supplies from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) under its Balik Escuela “Gamit ni bulilit Program” 2018.

Nilda Somera, Regional Corporate Communications and Public Affairs officer of NGCP, in an interview on Thursday, said the recipient schools are located in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur.

The school project is part of the NGCP’s priority Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

Somera said the “Gamit ni Bulilit” program supports the education of grades 1 to 3 pupils in public schools of barangays hosting NGCP facilities.

“Grades 1-3 because we want to motivate them during their formative years where they get support needed, to inspire them to continue going to school, and eventually finish their education,” she said.

“It’s NGCP’s way of expressing gratitude to host communities who have been supportive in protecting TL (transmission line) facilities and ensuring its safety so we enjoy reliable electricity,” she added.

During a short turnover program, the teachers, pupils and parents expressed happiness and thanks for the valuable efforts made by the NGCP team.

The Gamit ni Bulilit Program aims to give the students the drive to study passionately and industriously.

Camille Nacion, a student of Santa Teresa Elementary School, gave her sincerest gratitude to the NGCP.

“Salamat po sa NGCP sa pagbigay ng kagamitan sa amin, maramaing salamat po dahil alam ko na ang ibang pamilya ay hindi kayang bumuli ng kagamitan kaya maraming salamat po” (Thank you very much National Grid Corporation of the Philippines for giving us school supplies and assistance. Thank you because I know that not all parents can afford to buy school supplies for their children because of you NGCP it became possible, thank you very much.)

NGCP assured that the program will not end this year, as it strives to reach more schools and students. (Connie Calipay with reports from Jay Ray Masayda OJT/PNA)
