The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) is set to implement an increase in toll fees beginning June 15.
In an advisory, the NLEX said the Toll Regulatory Board approved the toll rate adjustment in the tollway of an additional P7 in the open system and P0.36 per kilometer in the closed system.
“The new rates, which underwent through regulatory reviews and approvals, were part of the authorized NLEX periodic adjustments due in 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2020,” NLEX said.
According to NLEX, the increase would “help curb the existing inflationary situation and cushion their impact on the users of the expressway.”
Under the new toll fee matrix, motorists traveling anywhere within the open system will pay an additional P7 for Class 1 vehicles or regular cars and sport utility vehicles.
An additional P17 for Class 2 vehicles or buses and small trucks will be implemented, as well as a P19-increase for Class 3 vehicles or large trucks.
The fare for Class 2 vehicles will now be P172 in the open system and P206 for Class 3 vehicles.
The open system is from Metro Manila in the cities of Navotas, Valenzuela, and Caloocan to Marilao, Bulacan.
Meanwhile, the closed system covers the portion between Bocaue, Bulacan and Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City in Pampanga, including Subic-Tipo.
Those traveling the NLEX end-to-end between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City will pay an additional P33 for Class 1, P81 for Class 2, and P98 for Class 3 vehicles. – cf
