LAOAG CITY—Former Badoc town mayor Tomas Torralba jumped for joy upon hearing news at the Supreme Court that his son, Klinton, is among the topnotchers in the 2017 Bar Examinations released on Thursday afternoon.

A video of the proud dad immediately went viral on Facebook as friends and relatives from abroad and in the province expressed their warmest congratulations to the Torralba family.

With a grade of 88.65%, Klinton Torralba, a graduate of the Faculty of Civil Law at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila ranked ninth in the exam.

The 2017 Bar Examinations recorded a passing rate of 25.55%. Out of the 6,748 bar examinees, a total of 1,724 passed.

In his Facebook account, the young Torralba believes, “the impossible is after all possible,” as he narrated the metamorphosis of a butterfly that inspired his life story.

“You need not have the most beautiful and biggest wings before you can fly. Just like in life, we need not be the most beautiful, most successful, or wealthiest before we can help and inspire others,” said Torralba.

The Torralbas reigned in the second-class municipality of Badoc for a long time until they lost to incumbent mayor Maximo Cajigal in the 2016 elections.

Klinton’s dad is the grandson of Ladislao Torralba, the municipal president of Badoc from 1931 to 1946.

His father was a three-term mayor before transferring the reigns of the town to his mom, Arlene in 2010. Klinton, on the other hand, also served as a Sangguniang Kabataan councilor of Barangay 2, Garreta, in Badoc before he graduated as a dean’s lister at the UST. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
