No casualty reported in Mayon eruption: NDRRMC

MANILA — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has not recorded any casualty in Mayon Volcano’s unexpected phreatic eruption Saturday afternoon.

This was stressed by NDRRMC spokesperson Mina Marasigan who added that evacuation of residents living in the six-kilometer danger zone had started.

Residents are also prohibited from returning and conducting any activities in the above-mentioned area, including planting and picking or harvesting of crops.

As of this posting, an initial 919 families were evacuated, Marasigan added. (PNA)
