North wins high-scoring PBA All-Stars

MANILA — The North All-Stars prevailed in the highest scoring Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) All-Star Game ever, beating the South All-Stars, 185-170, at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan on Sunday night.

Motivated by promoter Vijay Visandani’s challenge that every dunk and three-pointer means one wheelchair to the Alagang PBA Foundation, both teams went high octane early on as they attempted on threes and fastbreak plays.

However, the North got its bearings going first and opened a 51-25 lead against the South after the first quarter.

Although the South had some glimpses later in the game, the North held on.

Arwind Santos and Japeth Aguilar each scored 32 points for the North, and they were both named Most Valuable Players of the game.

Junemar Fajardo made 26 markers and 13 boards for the South.

All game long, 45 treys and 37 slams were made, leading to 82 wheelchairs to be donated by Visandani.

In total, 126 wheelchairs will be given to the foundation following the All-Star Weekend.
