NTF: 50% population protection enough to start vaccinating minors

National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. on Sunday (Sept. 26) said a 50% population protection is enough to start vaccinating the young population aged 12 to 17 years old.

“Once na tumaas ang ating inoculation sa ating priority group and nagkaroon ng saturation, we will see na magkaroon kami ng presentation sa IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) on how we could really look at the possibility kung kailan tayo magbabakuna ng mga pediatric and also adolescents,” the vaccine czar said during the arrival of the latest vaccine delivery in Pasay yesterday.

Galvez had earlier proposed the vaccination of minors by mid-October, as there is a sufficient vaccine supply of 23.75 million doses. Also, there is an additional 20 million doses arriving between now and the first week of October.
