NTF against COVID-19 approves transition protocol for pillion-riding

The National Task Force against COVID-19 has approved the transition protocol for motorcycle back-riding.

In the new guidelines, barriers are not needed if the rider and the passenger are living in the same house. If they do not, the barrier to be used should be in accordance with the design of the ride-hailing firm, Angkas.

According to Joint Task Force COVID Shield Commander Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, motorists must bring proof such as IDs with the same home address or barangay certifications to prove that they are living under the same roof and avoid problems with law enforcers.

The guidelines state that the passenger must be an Authorized Person Outside of Residence (APOR) and the driver must be the owner of the motorcycle. Both the rider and the passenger must wear a facemask and helmet with full faced visor.

Meanwhile, in the areas under Modified General Community Quarantine, the local government units (LGUs) will decide if they will adapt the new guidelines on pillion-riding. – Report from Bea Bernardo
