The government is set to create a new action plan in response to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Department of National Defense (DND) has considered the first phase of the implementation of the action plan against COVID-19 to be successful.
According to Secretary Delfin Lorenzana government measures have shown satisfying results despite criticisms. The first phase of the national action plan was implemented for the month of March until June.
Sec. Lorenzana has stressed that the first prediction of the World Health Organization (WHO) that the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines will reach more than 75,000 did not happen. In relation to this, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 is scheduled to present their second phase of the action plan to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
The second phase will focus on the gradual lifting of the country’s lockdown and plans to restart the economy. Sec. Lorenzana has stated that they need a new action plan due to the developments in the country in its response to the pandemic. However, a new action plan will be made as long as there is no cure for the virus until September.
