NTF Chairman Delfin Lorenzana: Metro Manila now ready to return to GCQ

Metro Manila is now ready to revert back to General Community Quarantine.

National Task Force against COVID-19 Chairman Delfin Lorenzana pointed this out as he cited the good results now seen in the National Capital Region (NCR) after being put under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). The record high of more than 6,000 cases on August 4 have been brought down to over 3,000 cases on Sunday.

However, the Defense Chief pointed out that General Community Quarantine (GCQ) is not the final recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID). A meeting will be held on Friday for the next quarantine classification.

Additional quarantine facilities will be established in the region and nearby provinces as part of the efforts to prepare for the possible return to GCQ.

“As we start opening ng economy, we are going to need more of these facilities…As we open up, it’s inevitable to get more cases, we have to be ready,” Sec. Vince Dizon said out.

According to the NTF, around 10,000 doctors, nurses, and medical technologists are needed by the government. – Report from Bea Bernardo
