NTF lays out guidelines for motorcycle taxis

The National Task Force against COVID-19 (NTF) laid out the guidelines for the motorcycle taxis after Congress released Resolution No. 1286 for continuing the pilot run.

The guidelines include the implementation of the “no helmet sharing” policy, use of barriers in between the driver and the passenger, and wearing of facemask. Full face helmet or full visor is required.

Cashless transaction will also be imposed on the 3 groups included in the pilot run of the motorcycle taxis, Angkas, Joyride, and Move It. Joyride has given an option for its passengers to load PhP 3,000 in their pay wallet which is consumable and those who will choose the option will be given a free helmet.

The 3 groups are required to pass a certification from the Department of Health (DOH) showing that their drivers are negative from the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The numbers of allowed motorcycle taxi drivers per group are 22,500 in the National Capital Region (NCR), 5,000 in Cebu, 900 in Cagayan de Oro for Angkas. 15,000 in NCR, 5,000 in Cebu, below 1,000 in Cagayan de Oro for Joyride. And 8,000 riders in NCR for Move It.

The technical working group composed of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (IACT), and Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set to meet with the 3 motorcycle taxi groups this week.
