Nueva Vizcaya’s top drug suspect arrested

CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City — Authorities arrested over the weekend Nueva Vizcaya’s number one personality on the drug watch list and seized from the suspect several illegal drugs paraphernalia.

Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, Police Regional Office 2 Director, identified the arrested suspect as Rex Cabanilla, 39, businessman and a resident of Calaocan, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, during a phone interview.

Espino said that at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday (March 18), joint elements of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office (NVPPO) and the Bambang Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calaocan, which resulted in Cabanilla’s arrest.

Seized from the suspect were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing “shabu” and the marked money used in the buy-bust.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 202. (PNA)
