According to the OCTA Research monitoring report of Wednesday (May 12), Zamboanga City had the highest reproduction number of COVID-19 cases outside Metro Manila over the past week.

Overall, the reproduction number in the entire Philippines for the past week is 0.81 with a seven-day average of daily new cases of 6,522.

Zamboanga City topped the list with a 47% increase in cases, followed by Puerto Princesa with a 35% growth rate over the past week.

“Batangas City and Cagayan de Oro also saw a rise in new cases from the previous week,” the group noted.

Average daily attack rates (ADAR) greater than 20 per 100,000 were also seen in Tuguegarao, Baguio City, and Puerto Princesa.

“The Department of Health (DOH) classifies LGUs [local government units] with ADAR higher than 10 per 100,000 as high risk,” OCTA Research added. – jlo
