Olympian Hidilyn Diaz give weightlifting equipment to AFP

The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Friday, Sept. 23, received weightlifting equipment from Olympian and Philippine Air Force Staff Sergeant Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo.

The donation was in partnership with the Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas (SWP) through its President Mr. Monico Puentevella, aiming to produce future world class soldier athletes and to promote the sport in the AFP.

Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel MGen. Adriano Perez Jr. officially received the donations.

“These new weightlifting equipment shall further enhance the fitness facilities of the General Headquarters and the Major Service special Service offices in line with our donor’s intent to integrate weightlifting into the AFP-PNP-PCG Olympics,” Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel MGen. Adriano Perez Jr. said.

“Hopefully, this endeavor shall pave the way for more Olympic medals courtesy of our soldier-athletes,” Perez, who received the equipment, added.

The husband and personal coach of Diaz was also present in the turnover ceremony at the General Headquarters Canopy in Camp Aguinaldo.

The Office of the Special Service, AFP, and the special service units of the Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine Army were the beneficiaries of the donated equipment.

Sets of rubber bumper plates, rubber fractional plates, fractional plates, men and women’s lifting bar and platform are among the donations of Diaz to AFP.  Katrina Gracia Consebido-ag
