All set for 30th SEA Games opening -PHISGOC

The 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games officially opens at the Philippine Arena tomorrow, November 30, 2019. The opening ceremony will be an indoor event, the first one of its kind in the history of the SEA Games. World-class Filipino talents will ignite the enthusiasm that surrounds the occasion, followed by an engaging fireworks display. Afterwards, the lighting of the SEA Games sports complex in Capas, Tarlac will be conducted.

The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) informs that it is ready for the opening ceremony in the face of the impending typhoon. Indeed, its contingency plan for the international sports hap is in place, which includes the possible deferral of scheduled games. “We’re ready for this, and we need to brace the storm. And I think, what is important now, all competition managers and technical delegates should already prepare in case the competitions are cancelled even for a few hours or in one day, then there should be a change of the format, competition format for each sport,” explains the PHISGOC.
The committee, moreover, stated that the provision of transportation services is already sealed. “We’re processing shuttle service already. There’s a P-to-P service already, and we’re adding a few more. I’m sorry, point-to-point . . . point-to-point service which is available for media and for guests. We’re putting together a system as well for going into other haps of where the games will be, so that should be up and running if not later today, well, one is up and running, by the opening of the games, which is November 30th, tomorrow,” the PHISGOC said.

In the plaza of the Athletes’ Village in Capas, Tarlac, the 11 participating countries held the flag raising ceremony earlier in the morning today.

The PHISGOC mentioned that it does everything it can towards the best staging of the 2019 SEA Games.
