Oplan Greyhound’ finds no hard drugs in Imus City jails

IMUS CITY, Cavite — Joint police and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel found no hard drugs inside the City Jail here during an “Oplan Greyhound” Monday morning.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) newly-designated jail warden Major Marlon Ymballa said the surprise joint operations were launched by the BJMP-Imus City Jail, city police and Bureau of Fire Protection-Imus in the overcrowded city jail complex along Palico IV, this city.

Ymballa said that during the joint search operations, only personal items, such as pens and shavers were found in the overcrowded facility.

He said the inspections were conducted to check on prohibited items and on the conditions of the prison quarters of some 930 male and 157 female inmates.

The detention cells were found congested since the nine four-layered cells for male detainees exceeded the total capacity by 530 while the adjacent female detention cells exceeded by 57.

Ymballa said most of the detainees face drug-related cases such as drug pushing with the oldest inmate at 65 years old while the youngest is 18. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
