Oplan Lambat Sasakyan nets 127 vehicles in NoCot town

KIDAPAWAN CITY — More than 100 motorcycles with dubious registration documents were impounded by the North Cotabato Police and traffic enforcers during a one-day implementation of “Lambat Bitag Sasakyan” Friday.

Supt. Joyce Birrey, North Cotabato Police deputy director for operations, led law enforcers from different municipal police offices in carrying out “Oplan Lambat Sasakyan” in Barangay Poblacion, Antipas, North Cotabato.

The operation, which commenced at 9 a.m. and terminated at 12 noon, resulted in the confiscation of 110 motorcycles and 17 tricycles with questionable registration papers.
Birrey told reporters the operation was in coordination with the highway patrol group and other law enforcement units in North Cotabato.

“Motorcycles without license plates have been frequently used by law offenders, including crime syndicates, as getaway vehicles after a crime was committed,” Birrey said.

The operation in Antipas, North Cotabato preceded a similar implementation of “Lambat Bitag Sasakyan” in Magpet town that netted more than 120 motorcycles, many of which were not registered or have expired registration papers.

Senior Supt. Jonathan Tangonan, North Cotabato Police director, said more similar actions will take place across the province, including surprise inspections.
