More than a hundred dogs have been rescued after being found abandoned in a shelter by their caretaker.

Over 100 dogs have been rescued by the local government and the Department of Veterinary and Fisheries (DVMF) in Barangay Adlaon.

Authorities found five dead dogs inside the shelter. Meanwhile, other dogs have eaten their fellow dogs due to extreme hunger.

They are already looking for the identity of the owner of the dog shelter.

Dog attacks on neighbors’ pets have also been reported.

Based on the initial report, the caretaker abandoned the shelter because he was no longer receiving payment for feeding the rescued dogs.

“So ‘yung caretaker, we’ll see if may liability ba siya, but ang owner meron talaga,” DVMF Officer-in-Charge Dr. Jessica Maribojoc said.

“Dapat kasi na-turnover sa pound. This is a violation po against Animal Welfare Act,” Maribojoc added. GB/With a report from Jessee Atienzaag
