Over 2-K individuals caught for flouting COVID-19 safety protocols

More than 2,000 individuals were apprehended for flouting health and safety protocols amid the community quarantine classifications among local government units.

According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año, from June 21 to June 27, at least 51,012 individuals were caught for not wearing face masks.

Some 598 were also caught in incidents of mass gatherings, while 18,617 violated the physical distancing measures imposed for the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Año also reported on Monday (June 28) that a total of 2,442 cases were filed against community health protocol violators.

There were also two new reported incidents of mass gatherings concerning barangay officials.

A street party was held on June 19 in Calauag, Quezon Province, while a boxing match was held on June 21 in Tondo, Manila. – Report from Alvin Barcelona / CF-rir
