Over 8k health workers test positive for COVID-19

More than 1,000 have been added to the number of health workers infected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines.

In the recent data of the Department of Health (DOH), the number of health workers positive with COVID-19 has reached 8,494 with 728 active cases, 7,710 recoveries and 56 casualties.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire has pointed out that the reported fatalities are thoroughly validated to ensure that the patient died due to the virus. Recording the patient’s cause and date of death is mandatory before including the data in the list of fatalities. This is why local government units (LGUs) take time in reporting.

As of September 14, the total number of COVID-19 cases is 265,888, 207,504 recoveries and 4,630 fatalities nationwide. – Report from Mark Fetalco
