P22-M road to provide access for Antique’s muscovado town

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) implemented by the Department of Agriculture (DA) will provide road access to Antique’s famous muscovado producing municipality, Laua-an.

Engr. Antonio Ronel Trino, PRDP’s Support Office Alternate Head, on Monday informed Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao about the approval of the PHP22-million road project in Barangay Cisit-an to Barangay Liya-Liya in Laua-an.

Trino said the project would provide access to farmers from these barangays to transport their muscovado production to the market.

“Our timeline for the project implementation is in the next three to four months,” he said.

The Antique provincial government is going to soon conduct a pre-procurement conference after the publication and bidding so that the winning contractor could proceed with the construction which will be within the next three to four months’ time.

The FMR will have a length of about two kilometers, and its construction is expected to be finished within 2018.

Trino said the provincial government is required to provide 10 percent share of the PHP22 million for the project, while the 80 percent from the World Bank and the remaining 10 percent from DA. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA
