The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built a flood mitigation structure in Barangay Taboc, San Juan, La Union.

DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel Tan said the seawall project at  the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines” will further protect tourists, residents, and motorists from waves brought about by bad weather.

Solar lights were also placed for the convenience of those visiting the shore.

“DPWH is undertaking major infrastructure projects in the region as part of the government’s effort to promote disaster risk mitigation and preparedness,” Tan said in a DPWH news release.
