Authorities arrested two suspects and seized over PHP8 million worth of ‘shabu’ in separate drug buy-bust operations in Cebu City.

Quoting a report sent to Camp Crame on Wednesday, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson, Col. Bernard Banac, said the first operation resulted in the arrest of Jonmarc Cardena, 19, at Block 4, Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City at around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The operation yielded eight large plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 200 grams, with an estimated value of PHP1.36 million, and marked money worth PHP50,000.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday, another buy-bust operation in the area resulted in the arrest of suspect Vanessa Lauron, 24, and the seizure of three large plastic sachets of shabu weighing about 1.34 kilograms worth PHP7.035 million and PHP7,000 buy-bust money.

The arrested suspects, now detained at Cebu City Police Office, face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Banac said the operations are part of the PNP’s intensified campaign against illegal drug syndicates.

“The PNP’s campaign against illegal drug syndicates nets another drug supplier. We intend to pursue this until we have dismantled all drug syndicates, arrested all their members and put them behind bars, following the prescribed rules of engagement, respect for human rights and value of life,” Banac added.
