The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission is pushing for corruption to qualify as a heinous crime punishable by death. PACC Commissiner Greco Belgica said that this includes cases involving illegal drugs which cause poverty or corruption hindering the country’s economy. Corruption cases against government officials need not go through special courts like the Sandiganbayan to facilitate resolution, Belgica added.
