The Philippine Air Force (PAF)sent two FA-50 fighter jets to accompany the flight of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as he left the country on Sept. 18 to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.
The fighter jets escorted the presidential flight of Marcos as a part of essential standard operating procedure to “clear and secure” the air space for the arrival and departure of the chief executive and other heads of state.
The said protocol is also practiced in various countries to ensure the safety and security of presidential flights.
The two fighter jets continued the regular maritime patrol after escorting Marcos to prevent any invasion within the Air Defense Identification Zone (PADIZ). KC-ag
