The Philippine Air Force (PAF) will formally accept UH-1 “Huey” helicopter spare parts donations from the Japan Ministry of Defense on Tuesday.

Maj. Aristides Galang, Air Force spokesperson, said Monday the acceptance and blessing ceremonies will take place at the Haribon Hangar, Air Force City, Clark Air Base in Pampanga.

The guest-of-honor will be Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, he added.

“The items will be very much useful to PAF units with UH-1 helicopters such as the 505th Search and Rescue Group, and the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing that conducts humanitarian assistance, disaster response and airlift operations,” Galang said.

Lorenzana earlier said that having these Huey spare parts will ensure that more of the PAF’s UH-1 helicopters will remain flyable.

“We can support more troop requirements and we will have more assets to support disaster management,” the defense chief added.

The PAF is known to operate 20 to 40 Huey helicopters.
