PAGASA reports highest heat index at 41°C

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has reported the highest heat index at 41 degree Celsius in Metro Manila on Monday, May 4, since monitoring started on April.

According to PAGASA, the temperature normally rises at 12 noon to 3:00 p.m.. However, PAGASA has reported the recent temperature increase at 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Experts advised to regularly bring and drink water to avoid dehydration since humans secrete 1.5 liters of sweat per day in hot weather. They also deem it better to stay home because the body cannot function properly in high temperatures and can lead to heatstroke.

Frontliners in checkpoints are also advised to drink buko juice to increase electrolytes for energy.

PAGASA has also stated that the hot temperatures may last until next week since the rainy season is expected by the end of May.
