Paintings depict Mandaluyong City’s history

Two pillars along Shaw Boulevard were painted with the faces of Mandaluyong City’s fabled lovers “Manda” and “Luyong”. This is but one of the local government’s efforts to showcase the rich history of the city in the midst of modernization and progress.In 2002, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Policy Center named Mandaluyong as a “Tiger City” due to its rapid economic growth. To keep the city’s fervor, the local government encouraged colorful houses along Martinez Street and made murals along Pasig River as visual reminders of the city’s glorious past and bright future.
