PAL cancels, delays Japan flights due to typhoon Jebi

MANILA — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) said flights to and from Japan slated from Sept. 3-4 would be either cancelled or delayed due to typhoon “Jebi.”

“Jebi” is expected to hit Japan from Monday evening to Wednesday, according to website accuweather.com. The Japanese government is preparing measures to deal with “Jebi,” which was categorized as “very strong” by the Meteorological Agency.

Currently, PAL serves the following Japanese destinations: Osaka (Kansai), Tokyo (Narita and Haneda), Fukuoka, and Nagoya.

Flights PR 408 Manila-Kansai and PR 438 Manila-Nagoya, which were originally scheduled to depart in the afternoon and arrive in the evening, were cancelled.

In a social media media post, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said passengers of PR 408 and PR 438 would be accommodated on the same flight on Sept. 4, with same flight schedules.

For Sept. 4, PAL has cancelled flight PR 407 Kansai-Manila, and passengers of this flight will be accommodated on the same flight and schedule on Sept. 5.

Flight PR437 Nagoya-Manila was also cancelled on Sept. 4, and passengers will be accommodated on PR 437 on Sept. 5 and 6, with same flight timings, Villaluna said.

Meanwhile, PR 896 Taipei-Kansai and PR 897 Kansai-Taipei were also cancelled for Sept. 4. Villaluna noted that passengers of these flights “shall be reprotected via replacement flights.”

Passengers may check with PAL for the schedule of these replacement flights.

Flights PR 410 Cebu-Kansai and PR 409 Kansai-Cebu, both scheduled for Sept. 4, will be delayed.

“Passengers of re-timed flights will be informed of their revised flight schedule via email, phone call, or short message services (SMS). Passengers who booked through travel agents are advised to check with them their new flight schedules,” Villaluna said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
