Palace assures PRRD’s health is ‘okay’

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque assured the public has nothing to worry about President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s health.

In a speech, President Duterte mentioned that the doctor has told him not to drink since his Barett’s esophagus is nearing stage 1 cancer.

“Dati na po iyan sinabi ng kanyang doktor na naging dahilan naman na mula noong siya ay naging Presidente ay itinigil na po niya ang panginginom. Sa tingin ko po, (the doctor has long since advised him about it, that is the reason why he stopped drinking when he became President. So I think,) the President did right by heeding the doctor’s advice [and because] he heeded the doctor’s advice this is the reason why his health is okay,” Secretary Roque assured.

According to Sec. Roque, there is nothing wrong with the Chief Executive staying in Davao since he is still fulfilling his duty.

Meanwhile, Presidential Security Group Commander Colonel Jesus Durante III ensured that the PSG is closely monitoring the President.

Durante admitted that they have been alarmed by the bombing in Jolo, Sulu since the President is also in Mindanao. But the PSG is always on heightened alert no matter what the situation is.

“Well with or without an incident, as I’ve said we are always vigilant, we are always on guard to any contingencies and we are always ready, we are always here to protect the President. But, for now, wala naman talagang (there is no) deliberate or confirmed or validated security threat apparently as of this time that is directed against the President.”
