Palace compels LGUs to finish SAP distribution by April 30

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has warned that LGUs may face charges if they fail to distribute the emergency assistance to the beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) by April 30.

The government has allotted PhP 200 billion for the Social Amelioration Program that aims to aid 18 million marginalized families affected by the enhanced community quarantine.

However, President Rodrigo Duterte’s submitted report to Congress has shown that majority of the SAP beneficiaries have not received aid from their respective mayors. Only 2.5 million beneficiaries or 18 percent have received the aid since April 23. – PTV News
