The government on Wednesday laid out details of the National Action Plan (NAP) which started last March and is set to last until 2021. This move was made amid claims that the administration does not have a plan to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.
The country is currently in the second phase of the NAP and will last until its fourth phase by 2021. Currently, the government wants to maintain low fatality rate while aiming for economic recovery.
Among the solutions under phase 2 are improving “prevent-detect-isolate-treat-reintegrate strategy” and zoning containment strategy, boosting public-private partnership, pushing for strict observance of health protocols, and further assistance to Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs), Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs), and local travelers to ensure their safety.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the government has strengthened its response against COVID-19 and that the increasing number of cases is a result of improved testing capacity.
Our strategy did not change, and is the same with the rest of the world. We improved our testing capacity and achieved 32,000 per day via PCR, it is natural for numbers to increase), Secretary Roque explained.
But that does not mean it is bad per se..Once we determine who have COVID-19, we isolate them to prevent transmission, treat them, and trace their contacts),” Roque added.
