Palace: No final decision yet on ECQ, GCQ in NCR

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said National Capital Region may be divided in terms of quarantine as President Duterte is expected to decide on Monday whether to extend the enhanced community quarantine in high-risk areas or to implement general community quarantine.

“Hindi po mananatili sa ECQ ang buong Metro Manila after May 16. At hindi rin naman po mag-gi-GCQ ang buong Metro Manila after May 16 (The entire Metro Manila will not remain under ECQ after May 16 and will not be placed entirely under GCQ after May 16). It will be granular, it will be surgical,” Roque said.

Roque also announced in the Laging Handa Public Briefing the essential public and private construction works allowed under ECQ such as construction for quarantine and isolation facilities.

Roque said “facilities for construction personnel who perform emergency works, flood control and other disaster risk reduction and rehabilitation programs, sewerage projects, water service facility projects, digital works” are also allowed.

“Yung (The) priority public infrastructure projects, as well as priority private infrastructure projects defined as those that refer to food production, agriculture, tertiary fish port development, energy, housing, communication, water facilities, manufacturing, and business process outsourcing shall likewise be allowed,” Roque added.

Roque disclosed the IATF-EID has approved the recommendation of the Department of Education (DepEd) for classes to open on August 24 and end on April 30, 2021. He clarified private schools may open as early as June but there will be no face-to-face classes yet.
