Palace welcomes P3-B Guada-BGC monorail project developments

MANILA — Malacañang on Tuesday welcomed the move of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to approve the proposal to build a monorail project connecting Makati City to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City which will start later this year.

“We are pleased to share that the Department of Transportation recently approved the proposal to be submitted to ICC/NEDA to build a monorail which will link central business districts in the cities of Makati and Taguig,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press briefing in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

ICC/NEDA stands for the Investment Coordination Committee of the National Economic Development Authority.

Once it is approved by the NEDA, the proposal will undergo Swiss Challenge wherein other companies can make competing offers while giving the original proponent the opportunity to match them.

“Truly, it is Build Build Build under the Duterte administration,” Roque added.

The DOTr earlier granted original proponent status to Infracorp Development Corporation to start construction of the monorail project which is expected to be completed by early 2021.

Infracorp submitted its unsolicited proposal on the railway project to the government last October 2017.

The PHP3-billion Skytrain monorail project will traverse from the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station in Guadalupe to Fort Bonifacio.

It will also interconnect with other transport facilities within the area benefiting around 60,000 to 100,000 daily passengers that are going to and from the business districts of Makati and Taguig.

Infracorp Development Corporation is the infrastructure arm of business tycoon Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Inc. (PNA)
