Malacañang on Thursday (March 24) confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte met presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and discussed “the current government’s major achievements.”

Communications Secretary and Acting Presidential Spokesperson Martin Andanar said Duterte and Marcos recently had a “productive meeting,” with the outgoing president sharing his six-year governance experiences and insights with the presidential aspirant.

“President Duterte likewise discussed the current government’s major achievements and gave pieces of advice to Mr. Marcos,” he said.

“In connection with this, the President expressed optimism that his administration’s notable programs and projects will be continued by the next administration,” he added.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go also confirmed the meeting in a separate statement.

“Maganda naman po ang resulta ng meeting. Medyo matagal-tagal nga ‘yon at talagang ganado ‘yung Pangulo na magkuwento. I think about 80% ng discussion ay more on si Presidente po ang nagsasalita,” he said.  -ag
