Pampanga almost free of COVID-19, nears herd immunity

The province of Pampanga has only a few active COVID-19 cases left, Pampanga Provincial Health Officer Dr. Zenon Ponce said on Thursday (Dec. 9).

“Halos lahat ng bayan kakaunti nalang ang nag-positive. Iyong mga ospital dito sa Pampanga, including sa mga government pati mga private hospitals, halos wala na silang mga COVID-19 patients,” Ponce said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“85% na po ang nakatanggap ng first dose. Ang fully-vaccinated ay nasa 65% na po kaya malapit na tayo sa herd immunity,” he said.

Dr. Ponce said the Provincial Health office will tighten the monitoring of inoculation in vaccination sites in order to avoid vaccine spoilage.

He also said fully-vaccinated individuals should still observe minimum health protocols.

“By next year, almost 100% ang fully-vaccinated na kasi nagha-house-to-house na po ngayon.” -rir
