CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The provincial government of Pampanga has launched a project that aims to bring its programs and services closer and more attuned to the needs of the residents.
Dubbed as “Barangayan 2018”, the project kicked off Wednesday where provincial officials led by Governor Lilia Pineda and 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visited five villages in Floridablanca town to discuss the government’s programs, hear the people’s suggestions, identify their needs, and inspect ongoing projects.
Personnel of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and General Services Office also joined the Barangayan in visiting the villages of San Ramon, Palmayo, Carmencita, Bodega, and Dampe.
During the activity, Pineda announced the plan of the provincial government to construct new barangay halls in the province.
“I want to leave a legacy, that is to build identical barangay halls for all 505 villages of Pampanga,” she said.
For her part, Arroyo reported on the PHP30-million funds from the national government intended for road projects in Floridablanca.
She also disclosed the PHP100-million flood control projects for the Gumain River that would reduce the burden of flooding in the second district.
“We are fortunate that President Rodrigo Duterte granted my requests for funding. This year, many projects will be realized,” she said.
Officials of the Department of Agriculture and National Irrigation Authority were also present in the Barangayan and vowed to provide the farmers of Floridablanca water pumps and shallow tube wells.
Also part of the Barangayan were the conduct of a medical mission and distribution of food packs to identified poor households, the Nanay Community Workers, and the “Narses sa Nayon”, where volunteers and nurses assisted people in need of medical attention. (Joel Mapiles/PNA)
