DAGUPAN CITY — Pangasinan incumbent Governor Amado Espino III is seeking a second term as he filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) along with his running mates under the Partidong Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-LABAN) on Monday.

“Yes, it is confirmed. I am running for governor,” Espino told reporters after he filed his CoC at the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor here.

Espino was accompanied by his wife Karina, his mother Priscilla, and his father, incumbent Pangasinan 5th District Representative and former Pangasinan governor Amado Espino Jr., who also filed his CoC for the congressional post in his district.

“Dadagdagan pa natin ang mga programa na atin ng ipinapatupad sa probinsya dahil maganda na ang takbo ng probinsya lalo at ang mga programa natin ay dinadala na sa mga barangay (We will add more to the existing programs and projects we are implementing in Pangasinan since our province is now running smoothly towards greater progress, especially now that we are bringing the programs to the communities),” he said.

Espino also bared his plan to further coordinate with the local government units (LGUs) of the province to prepare them for upcoming big investments in the province.

He cited the USD1 billion worth of investments of a big corporation in the town of San Fabian.

“The project will bring more income to the town and more employment for its people and to the province as a whole,” he said.

Despite the upcoming elections, Espino said he will still focus on the work that needed to be done for the province.

“Trabaho lang po muna, mas maganda trabaho na lang muna. Ituloy lang naming gawin ang mga proyekto at programa na tunay na tinatangkilik at minamahal ng ating mga kababayan (We will continue to work, it is better to work first. We will continue with the provincial government’s projects and programs that are truly supported and loved by our province mates),” he said,

Aside from the Espinos, former 3rd district board member Angel Baniqued Sr. also filed his CoC for vice-governor, while Generoso Tulagan Jr., Nestor Reyes, Liberato Villegas, Angel Baniqued Jr., Jeremy Agerico Rosario, Francis Tinio, Noel Bince, Salvador Perez Jr., Haidee Soriano, all filed for board member in their respective districts. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
