Pangasinan town adds 30 high school scholars

MANGALDAN, Pangasinan—A total of 30 incoming high school freshmen have passed the qualifying examination for the scholarship program in this town.

Ernie Cuison, media coordinator in an interview Wednesday, said the scholars will be receiving PHP1,000 a month for the whole school year until their 12th grade.

“But they need to maintain 85 percent general average, lest they will forfeit their scholarship for the succeeding month, they will only be entitled again if they reach the maintaining grade,” Cuison said.

He said the scholars, who have taken the qualifying exam last April 26, are poor but deserving students.

“Only those who are indigent but are hardworking and intelligent students can avail of this scholarship program,” he said.

He stressed that the Municipal Planning and Development Council have checked the background of the students.

The town now has a total of 210 high school students-scholars from 2013 up to present under the administration of Mayor Bonafe Parayno. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
