Pangasinan town opens Museo Mangaldan

MANGALDAN, Pangasinan — The municipal government here has opened to the public on Tuesday its “Museo Mangaldan,” which features the town’s history and culture.

Executive assistant Butch Biagtan told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Wednesday that the two-story museum houses old photographs and relics backed with stories to show their importance to the town’s development.

“Some photos portray the lives of the old residents of Mangaldan and some relics were donated by the people themselves,” Biagtan said.

Biagtan said the municipal government started the construction last year. The PHP2.3-million budget came from the town’s development fund with the help of the University of the Philippines Baguio headed by Butch Torio as curator.

“The museum complements the existing municipal building. It was sync to it thus it has heritage style like that of the municipal building,” he said.

Biagtan encouraged the residents of the town and even tourists to visit Museo Mangaldan, which is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“Visit to the museum is for free and anyone could just walk-in or coordinate with the city mayor’s office for bigger groups,” he added. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
