Deputy Speaker and Presidential Son Paolo Duterte is pushing to repeal Republic Act No. 10912 or the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Act of 2016.
The law authored by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV mandates professionals to take formal and non-formal learning prior to the renewal of their professional licenses.
“After a long day of work, they are forced to spend a bulk of their salary, take absences from work, and go through unreasonable hardships just so they can renew their licenses and continue the practice of their professions,” Paolo Duterte said.
Rep. Duterte added that they “do not deserve the CPD law” and that the move is to “serve as gratitude” to professional frontline workers who continue to serve the nation.
Trillanes and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) have not yet issued a statement on the matter.
