Partial deployment ban in Kuwait all set

The Department of Foreign Affairs stated that the partial deployment ban on first time overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) going to Kuwait is now ready. Said prohibition, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), may become a complete ban if justice for slain OFW in Kuwait Jeanelyn Padernal Villavende is not attained.

The DOLE envisages to make Villavende’s recruitment company explain its inaction on the incident. The labor arm reasoned that as early as September 2019, Villavende complained about maltreatment and insufficient compensation. Further, she repeatedly asked said agency to pull her back from Kuwait. Said recruitment company, notwithstanding said information from Villavende, did nothing.
