President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is offering former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief PGen. Nicolas Torre III a different position in the government following the latter’s removal from his post as top cop, according to Malacañang.

This was confirmed by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro in a press briefing Wednesday, but did not divulge further details on the matter.

Torre],” Castro said.

Torre was relieved from his post in a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin dated Aug. 25.

He was replaced by PLt.Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., who took over as officer-in-charge during the assumption of command ceremony in Camp Crame on Tuesday.

Castro stressed that the change in PNP leadership will not cause a crisis within the organization, as Torre, she said, respects the decision of the President.

We just have to respect the wisdom of the President on this matter,” she continued.
