PBBM eyes lower rice prices on holidays

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, said he is hoping that the price of rice will go down in time for Christmas through the implementation of “Kadiwa ng Pasko.”

In an interview, Marcos said that his administration is aiming to slash the price of rice to P20, despite the price movement of basic commodities in the market during the Holiday season.

“The 20 pesos was really the goal, the dream is paabutin natin ng 20 pesos. We are trying to do… We are continuing with the transfer payments that we have begun with. We are going to widen the scope of the Kadiwa,” Marcos said.

“I’m hoping that we can— we will see some adjustment in prices for Christmas and it looks like baka naman swertehin tayo,” he continued.

The “Kadiwa ng Pasko” project will benefit thousands of farmers and fisherfolk through additional profit and freed them from fraudulent traders and middlemen.

Marcos said that his administration is working to look for ways to prevent prices from increasing during the Holiday season to keep consumers away from additional expenses.

“If we could postpone and padahan-dahanin lang natin kung tataas naman. Dahan-dahanin ang pagtaas. Masyado nang mahirap— masyado nang nahirapan ang tao,” Marcos said. – gb
