President Ferdinand R. Marcos graced the 75th Ormoc City Diamond Charter Day celebration on Thursday, Oct. 20, where he lauded the city of Ormoc for its achievements and successful implementation of their local government’s projects and programs.
Speaking before the people of Ormoc, Marcos expressed gratitude for all the support he received when he called for unity during the recent national elections, and that he owed the kindness they have given him.
“With this, I thank you as you have responded for that call for unity especially in the past national elections. Your overwhelming support, your faith and trust in me as you are among the strongholds of our collective victory,” Marcos said.
“I will forever remember and cherish that kindness that you have showed us and the support that you gave us,” he added.
Marcos is optimistic that the people of Ormoc will be one in advocating the city’s projects and programs as the country brave various crises including food security, energy supply, and climate change.
The President looked back when Yolanda and Odette’s fury devastated the city and emphasized the significance of climate change in the country.
He commended the city’s implementation of local climate change action plan of 2016 to 2025 that will raise social and public awareness to the community.
“With the implementation of your local climate change action plan of 2016 to 2025. You held the executive branch of government to deliver our mandate to boost civic engagement and to raise public awareness,” he continued.
Marcos also lauded Ormoc’s excellence for their service and governance, including its partnership with the Commission on Population and Development for their implementation on social protection program for the youth, mothers and their children, which proved that the city’s genuine care for the development of every families.
Furthermore, Marcos also urged the locals of Ormoc to participate and help the government’s battle with the existing COVID-19 in the country through complying with government’s mandate on public health protocols and join the state’s PinasLakas vaccination campaign.
“I once again, will repeat this administration’s commitment to support those programs and projects for the betterment of your locality and for our country,” Marcos said.
“Magtulungan tayo, napakahalaga nito at marami tayong magagawa kaagad. So i-prioritize natin ang ating health so that with renewed vigor and with new strength, we can act unrestrained in our efforts to bring forth better, a brighter and a more united Philippines for everyone,” he added.
